The Tea Act Is Passed By Parliament – 1773

Three ships, the Eleanor, the Beaver, cheap nba jerseys and the Dartmouth, pulled into the Boston Harbor with a large delivery of tea from the British owned East India Company. The colonists wanted the ships to leave Griffin Wharf. They did not want the tea. Governor Thomas Hutchinson of Massachusetts denied their request. The governor was stalling – relying on a law that cargo sitting in the harbor for A 20 days or more-had to be accepted and unloaded.

Patriot leader, Samuel Adams, the event planner of the so called Tea Party, had evidently read his copy of the law manual. The Sons of These Liberty met and implemented a plan of what they perceived as their only option left.
Over one hundred men stole onto the ships, dressed as Indians with tomahawks to break open the chests storing the tea. Orders had been given that nothing else was to be harmed or stolen. 342 chests of China tea were thrown into the Boston harbor.

This your midnight raid was the colonists protest against the Tea Act that Parliament passed in 1773 to save the East India company that was in debt and near bankruptcy.

The Tea Act
The Tea Act was approved by Parliament on May 10, 1773, with the intentions of benefiting the East India Company by giving them the exclusive rights to sell tea in the colonies and making them exempt from paying British duty.
Even though the colonists would pay less for the tea, even with the tax, it created problems with their shops selling tea. And the monopoly on tea by the East India Company was Hello perceived by the colonists as another means of taxation without representation.

The Brewing of the Tea Party
The Tea Act was “the British straw that broke the colonist’s back.” Samuel Adams said about the Patriots in The Boston Tea Party, “was not the act of a lawless mob, but a principled Утепление protest and the cheap jerseys only remaining option the people had to defend their Constitutional rights.”

There were several historical events that led to the American colonist’s rebellion over the Tea Act.
The British marched in victory from the Indian and French war in 1763.  The British government felt it was payback time for the American colonies since the war had been expensive and they had benefited in being protected.

Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765, placing a tax wholesale nfl jerseys on various public paper in the colonies such as: newspapers, diplomas, licenses, packs of cards, dice, and pamphlets. Due to fierce opposition from the colonists, the British Parliament repealed the Stamp Act in 1766.

The British closed one door and opened another by means of trying to collect some money from the American colonies. In 1767, Parliament passed the Townsend Acts. These acts made cheap jerseys items such as lead, paper, paint, glass, and tea, more expensive to buy. The colonists refused to buy these items. Again, the British government backed down and the Townsend Acts were repealed in 1770 – except for a duty on tea.
