Seal Pup Plays Games With Snorkeler

People often don wet suits and snorkels and breathing apparatus to dive into the ocean and see rusty leftovers from boats and underwater fish and maybe even a hidden treasure or two. There is a new viral video posted and reposted all over the internet of one unsuspecting diver snorkeling in Puerto Madryn, off the coast of Argentina, and a new friend that found him. This diver expected to see shells and small fish. He got much more than he bargained for in this town, which is known to have a coast full of friendly sea life, with whales, dolphins, penguins and sea lions all in the area.

This diver found out just how friendly the sea life is when seal pup swam over to him to play. The seal was not in any way scared of the snorkel, or anything the diver was wearing. The seal pup swam right over to him and begin to play with him. The seal pup kisses the diver a few times right on the mouth and even nibbles a little on his goggles. The seal pup even plays with the camera and gives it a friendly headbutt before swimming over to some other divers to play with them, too. This seal pup wasn’t the only one, because he had friends, too. All the pups were swimming back and forth to all the divers to play, and even give a hug or two. It was surely a once in a lifetime experience that those divers will never forget.

Thanks to the many animal shows on TV, we have all seen plenty of footage where seals can be aggressive on land. They will defend, often fiercely, their territory when threatened by other sea creatures. But, in water, they are usually friendly and docile and love to show off how fun and playful they can be. Seals have been known to jump on boats full of humans and stayed there because their life was a risk by sharks, or whales. Seals are not only playful, but they are also smart.

We can’t go out on a limb and say that seal pups would make the perfect pet, or that we should all consider seal pups the new household puppy, but they did show this team of divers a good time. The seal pups certainly showed off their playful and loving side with all the hugs and kisses they were giving to the divers. The seals did not want their new human friends to go, as they continued the love fest. I’m sure the divers didn’t want to leave the water either, since this is something that will most likely never happen again. It just proves that you never know what’s going to happen and you just might get a kiss from a seal pup when you least expect it.
